Mozayk for iPhone Photo Maker Help

Main Screen

1. Preview image: This image displays a quick preview of the mosaic image file that will be generated. It is not a final rendering, but a close match to what the final image will look like.

2. Transparency: this sets the transparency level of the main mosaic image. 100% means the image is fully opaque (tiles will not show), and 0% is fully transparent (main mosaic image will not show). Choose a value that suits your taste for a generated final image, usually a 50-65% value works best for most images.

3. Grid Size: allows you to define the mosaic grid size (number of tiles across x number of tiles down). The larger the grid size, the more time it will take to generate the mosaic photo, and the smaller the size of the tile photos.

4. Spacing: this is the space to leave between tile photos in pixels, you can choose a number between 0 to 5.

5. Cancel/Reset: This button toggles between Reset and Cancel depending on whether an image generation is in progress. The Reset button clears all settings back to defaults, while the Cancel button allows you to abort an image generation that's in process.

Progress bar: this will show you current progress of the image generation, as well as an estimate of the time remaining. Please keep in mind that the time remaining estimate depends on a lot of factors including the which device you're running the app on (iPhone 4 will take considerably longer than an iPhone 4S).

Generate Photo Icon

10x13 photo: Touching this button will start the generation of the mosaic photo in a size that is equivalent to a 10 megapixel JPG, that can be printed up to 10"x13" at full resolution. Choose this format for image that are intended to be enlarged when printing.

Generate 8x11 photo: Touching this button will start the generation of the mosaic photo in a size that is equivalent to an 8 megapixel JPG, that can be printed up to 8"x11" at full resolution. Use this for image that will be printed on full size letter or equivalent.

Generate 4x6 photo: Touching this button will start the generation of the mosaic photo in a size that is equivalent to a 5.4 megapixel JPG, that can be printed up to 4"x6" at full resolution. Use this for images that will be used as desktop backgrounds, social media, emails, 5x7 prints or smaller.

Turbo Mode vs HD Mode: Allows you to choose the tile rendering speed. When selecting a Turbo generation button, the mosaic image generation is usually faster with a slight tradeoff if tile quality. Use this mode to generate mosaic photo that will be mainly used on computers (e.g. background image), social media, etc. When selecting an HD (slow) generation button the rendering process will take significantly longer, however the tile image quality is much higher. Use this mode when you intend to print out the generated mosaic photo.

Generated Image Viewer Screen

1. Generated photo mosaic image: This displays the actual generated JPG file. Tap once to bring up the action toolbar, double tap to zoom in to 100% and drag with one finger to pan the zoomed image.

2. Save to camera roll: Touching this button will export the generated image to you device's camera roll. Please note that doing so will resize the image to camera roll specifications. The original (full size) image will still be accessible from the app's iTunes document folder.

3. Email photo: Will compose an email with the full size email as an attachment. Please note that because the generated images tend to be large, sending email may take some time depending on the compression you select when you press send.

4. Dismiss: Will dismiss the action toolbar at the top. The same happens if you tap once again on the generated image.

5. Done: Closes the generated image viewer screen and returns to the app's main screen.

FAQ

1. Where can I find the generated mosaic photos? Generated mosaics will be saved in the documents folder of the MozaykHD app. You can access those by doing the following steps:

a. Connect your device to your computer

b. Open iTunes, and select your device

c. Click on Apps and scroll down to view the list of apps with file sharing enabled

d. Click on MozaykHD and you will see the list of generated photo mosaics, which you can then save to your computer, or delete.

1. Are images overwritten? Generated images are named after both the mode of generation (Turbo vs HD) and the grid size. So for example, all 20x20 Turbo images will have the same filename and if one already exists, it will be overwritten by the next generation request of a Turbo 20x20 image.
